On Tuesday, September 9, Sabyasachi Mukherjee, together with Sawai Padmanabh Singh, Maharaja of Jaipur, hosted an exclusive evening in New York City to mark the designer’s milestone 25th anniversary, held on the eve of New York Fashion Week.
Sabyasachi is India’s leading luxury house rooted in heritage, quality, and craftsmanship. A brand that revels in India’s legacy but with a unique perspective, capturing what was and what is, with a single-minded vision to create modern heirlooms.
The celebration began with a cocktail reception at the Sabyasachi flagship boutique in the West Village, where guests were welcomed with glasses of Dom Pérignon champagne. Attendees explored the new collection while enjoying elaborate grazing tables topped with towers of lobster and king crab, along with decadent desserts and fine chocolates, a dedicated caviar tasting bar, which created an immersive atmosphere reflecting the brand’s artistry and sophistication. The evening drew a distinguished guest list of fashion insiders, cultural figures, tastemakers, and close friends of the house.
Guests included Anjula Acharia, Olimpia Báez Herrera,
Candace Bushnell, Julia Chafe, Georgina Chapman, Carlyne Cerf De Dudzeele, Linda Fargo, Amy Fine Collins, Alessia Fendi, Prabal Gurung, Patricia Herrera Lansing, Rupi Kaur, Adam Lippes, Frédéric Malle, Fern Mallis, Carlos Mota, Rafael Azzi, Alexandra O’Neill, Roopal Patel, Carole Radziwill, Paolo Riva, Elizabeth Saltzman, Ayesha Shand, Peter Som, Hamilton South, Nick Sullivan, Elizabeth Sulcer, Divia Thani, Anna Wintour, and more.
The 25th anniversary collection is an extraordinary medley of contrasts in colour, texture, and technique. Exquisite embroidery creates the illusion of tweed, velvet appliqués are overlaid with faux fur, and pristine Japanese cotton is juxtaposed with pashmina, recycled polyester, and pebbled ostrich leather. Each look is layered with cultural references and personal storytelling— from a Frida Kahlo-inspired headband to a Madonna-style crucifix.
It was the perfect event to welcome New York Fashion Week!
