Swimwear Luxury imagined by Kanomi
By Titina Penzini (IG @titinapenzini)
One of my favorite swimwear and resort brands has been Kanomi for many, many years. The brand was founded by Venezuelan designer Maria Domenica Atencio in 1999 and has always been focused on highlighting the country's cultural heritage and natural wonders.
Kanomi means 'guava' in the Pemon dialect, the language spoken by the indigenous community inhabiting the Gran Sabana.
Every piece that comes out of the studio is impeccably handcrafted and produced in conscious batches with a zero-waste intention. Exceptional fabrics become perfection when worked by skilled Manos Kanomi and premium techniques.

Sculpted silhouettes and a perfect fit result in the creation of luxury provenance collections, in which Kanomi explores the notion of "modern tropical sleekness" that can be worn beyond water and sun. These designs blend the boldness and vitality of nature with the versatility and strength of the contemporary woman.
For their latest capsule collection, "Crucero 26," and signature print motif is a tribute to Franco-Venezuelan visual artist Marisol Escobar (1930-2016), famous for her wooden sculptures associated with the Pop Art movement.
"La Fiesta" is the special edition print, a tribute to Marisol, influenced by pre-Columbian and folk art, who transitioned from painting to sculpture, developing a highly spirited, incisive, and subtly political visual language.
Fabulous pieces such as Swimsuits, Pareos, long printed mesh dresses, bikinis, and beautifully hand-painted clutches are available for the upcoming resort season. Every single piece is an actual work of art, art à porter!
