Miami: This Is What Community Looks Like
When disaster happens, the food community steps up. They show their support through action, not just words.
On Thursday, July 9, over 20 of Miami’s top chefs, along with beverage partners, wineries, producers, and sponsors, will come together at Casa Caracas for United for Venezuela. This one-night fundraiser will support people affected by the recent earthquake in Venezuela.
Instead of a typical charity dinner, this event is set up as an interactive food experience. Guests can walk around, meet chefs, try different dishes, and connect with the people who made them. Each bite and conversation helps support those in need.
What makes this event special is the teamwork. Each Venezuelan chef is working with an international chef to create a new dish inspired by Venezuela’s flavors, culture, and identity. These unique pairings celebrate creativity and show the generosity of the hospitality industry.
Among the participating chefs are Juan Luis Martinez (Mérito -Perú) with Diego Oka (La Mar Miami), Chema Cárdenas and Alejandro Díaz (Miami Slice) with Bernardo Paladini (Torno Subito), Teresa Gallina (Recoveco) with Nancy Domínguez and Leicel Ros (Anako/Sili), César González (Mordisco) with Justin Flit (ViceVersa), Richard Ortega and Jhonny Delgado with Tam Phan (Tam Tam), Paola Carlini (Gluttonomy) with Karla Hoyos (Tacotomia), Damelys Dadiotis with Martha Palacios (Jarana), Jesús Brazón (Caracas Bakery) with Alejandra Espinoza (Cotoa), Federico Tischler with Franco Stanzione (Stanzione), and Ana de Sa Martins (Ophelia) with Zak Stern (Zak the Baker).
A great group of beverage partners and sponsors are also helping out, including FOH, S.Pellegrino, Acqua Panna, Cocuy Saroche, Gin Canaïma, Ron Santa Teresa, Ethica Wines, Zev Rovine Selections, Gluttonomy, and BVRG. They are all providing products and resources to help raise as much as possible.
Most importantly, every dollar from ticket sales will go straight to World Central Kitchen. Their teams are now giving emergency meals and help to families, first responders, and communities affected by the earthquake in Venezuela.
United for Venezuela is more than just a fundraiser. It shows that the hospitality industry is about more than restaurants. It’s a community built on generosity, teamwork, and the belief that food brings people together when it matters most.
This is how Miami’s food community comes together and makes a difference.
